The Path of Beauty
By Mixa Margaret Fajkus Gonzalez
I wake before the pink dawn as the lake whispers her morning song,
three volcanoes stand sentinel, reminding me to be here and now.
The path of beauty meanders. Some days, it’s laughter spilling forth.
Others, it’s tears salted with memory. The path asks for our open eyes and willing hearts.
A hummingbird hovers, a flash of grace reminding me that joy is fleeting and all things must pass. Beauty is my daughter’s smile, the warm caress of my love, the sacred fire flickering.
It’s the breath between words, the pause after exhale, the space of truth.
Some days, I lose the path, tangled in thoughts, shoulds and what-ifs.
But then, a breeze. blossom, or birdsong reminds me of this path of beauty I walk.
Barefoot and grateful, my heart a compass, my breath a guide, stepping gently on this winding, wondrous path, blessed by earth, air, fire, and water and the ever unfurling beauty of Life.
